But, both wife and I have taken swift water rescue, I'm a Paramedic and she is an ED Doc. So, kind of superfluous.

Neither your swiftwater training nor EMS training covers SCUBA rescue. Learn to mount that tank!

Gonna take your response as trolling. My wife and I can handle whatever is thrown at us. You would be lucky to have us on a dive trip if things went sideways.

Guess I'm still in the mentality of tanks and weights being included and everything else being rental. Not gonna lose sleep over it, but still find it odd. Checked with other shops and not the case with them. Dates are the only ones that work for our schedule or I would switch shops for class.
Typically traveling to dive tanks and weights are included but here in California it’s common even if you book a boat dive that you supply your own tanks and weights or arrange to rent them.

I am a Deputy, a Public Safety Diver, a use of force and TASER instructor, combat vet, and worked the Minneapolis and Brooklyn Center riots. I worked as a lifeguard way back when. I've been told I'm pretty good under pressure. I still learned things at Rescue Diver.

Congrats... never said I wouldn't learn something. Let's move on please..

...Regarding cost of French Polynesia diving, yup, understand its expensive as is everything else there. But, its open... and its humpback season!! So, with Solomon's being closed, seems like a good alternative as its a short, non-stop flight from SF. But, thanks for the heads up.

Lucky you. We had to take a 5 hour flight to LAX first, then the 8 hour flight to Papeete, Moorea.

You're probably planning to go to Bora Bora, and you should. It is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful. I did a night dive there too.

We saw humpbacks from our dive boat off of Raiatea or Huahine (can't remember which), but they left when we stopped to jump in.

No shortage of blacktip, grey, and lemon sharks though. They called the blacktips "escorts" because they would come and follow beside us throughout the dives, but even the lemons and greys left and came back repeatedly. I never saw any feeding to encourage this behaviour, except for one dive in Moorea where they placed a fish head in a barrel sponge, a few varieties of sharks came, and they all retreated to let the biggest grey shark take the fish head.

Have a great time! :)

Thank you for the advice. Wasn't sure about going to Bora Bora. We have 25 days, so will probably add some time there. Definitely going to hit Rangiroa, Fakarava, and Rurutu (for humpbacks).

Just need to get a definitive cancellation on the Solomon's now, so I can start booking the trip to FP.

I wouldn't miss out on Bora Bora if it were me we loved it.

Thanks for all the advice regarding FP. Maybe getting off topic... Have a post in Pacific Island section if people prefer to respond there. Regardless, how many days recommended for Rangiroa? How many days recommend for north Fakarava and south Fakarava? Gonna probably stay both north and south to avoid 1 1/2 hr boat ride between. Any other places you would recommend diving? Haven't heard great things about Tahiti, Bora Bora, and Moorea diving. Gonna try and head to Rurutu for humpbacks as I've heard Moorea can get crowded. Figure 2 days in water with humpbacks is enough. Sounds like adding a few days in Bora Bora is needed.

Thank you and sorry about post getting off topic...
