Yes, rescue is absolutely worth it if you have a good instructor, and you also need to be a good student.
Drysuit is something that somebody can show you and you can glean enough information on your own to figure it out, you don't necessarily need to take a class.

Aye, it was worth it when OP started this thread 22 years ago, as it is now. Enjoy
I wonder why it's taking so long!

I did the online eLearn and then went to Buddy Dive the next week and did the wet work. Like 10 days total... OK I had first aid and CPR card already...

This is key. I realize this is a resurrected thread, but what was true then is still true.

With a good instructor, and good students it can be a good class. I took Rescue a couple years ago with two of my usual dive buddies. Instructor was the same that I took Night, Deep, and Navigation with. During one of the dives for those courses, we actually had an actual rescue of one of the students. It was actually an unusual rescue in the way everything went smoothly. Another instructor with a class of OW students actually mentioned to his students that we were doing a Rescue class. I guess with the lack of panic on the part of all involved, and the seemingly scripted roles everyone had, it looked like a class.

During the actual Rescue class, we were all kept on our toes. It was clear from the start, that we'd need to pay attention as rescue scenarios could pop up at any point. Even when we thought we were on a break. Never really knew what the scenario was going to be, we would have to figure it out, and it could really involve anyone. Not just the instructors. On more than one occasion, the students also were the victim, and the other students needed to respond.

Definitely a good course. At the completion of the course, you should be somewhat exhausted. It can be a fun course, but it should also be a working course.
