My handle is one that I use in other places. I am not interested in linking my handle to my real name in a way that makes it easily searchable by anyone on the internet. Why? Because I have occasionally posted on topics that touch on my day-to-day personal life. pseudo-anonymity allows me the ability to do that without fearing any professional repercussions. I don't mind sharing my information with moderators to validate that I should be in this forum (or the I2I forum or any private forum) and I do so trusting that my personal information will remain unpublished.

Yeah, a forum with only a few hundred people I don't know or care to trust with more personal information than necessary. I've seen how people have used information they've gotten from PM's or Facebook pages, against other users on this board.
