O'Malley:
Congratulations, Jeff! And by the way, It's frigidly cold back home...stay another few days!
Trust me... I thought about it! The head cold that I started to get on Monday (which made diving oh so pleasant) put the kabosh on that. Ah, snow... lovely snow.
I uploaded about 10-15 more pics in my gallery...
Well here's the last day of diving:
Colombia: Nice dive, not quite the amazing viz we had earlier that week but still really good. Due to my aforementioned head cold I had major trouble equalizing, it took me 15 mins. to get down and 19 mins. before I heard that Ren & Stimpy wheezy fart sound (that's a technical term right?) to tell me my ears equalized fully. I decided to skip the swimthroughs, not wanting to have to worry about sudden depth changes... my mistake. In every one of them Pedro found a small critter to show everyone. A Bristleworm, a tiny 5 legged Starfish & a Pipefish. Saw the anchor that was uncovered by Wilma. Al in all a pleasant dive.
San Francisco: A perfect ending to a great week... we saw at least 5 Southern Stingrays on this one. I found a Mantis Shrimp stalking a small crab, Eeels, Toadfish etc. Had the same equalization problems as the previous dive so I knew it was the perfect time to get out of Dodge. Definitely some sand washed over the edge onto the wall but it was still an awesomely beautiful dive.
After the dives we rented a scooter and rode around the island. we went sraight out Juarez and came back from the South. Some of the old road is still washed out South of Chankanaab, we had to backtrack to take the new road back into town. Hit Coconuts for a Pina Colada & lunch. Drinks were good, the tacos were mediocre. Ah well, we went there more for the ambience than the food. Both Coconuts and Chen Rio were the most crowded i've ever seen them.
Then hit El Pique late night with Mago & Christi for some Tacos al Pastor... Yum!!!
Mucho thanks to Christi and her crew for everything they did.
I'll wrap this up with my final thoughts tomorrow or Friday, my head is pounding and I need to work in a few hours.
