Yes, people have been known to bite their nose off to spite their face, and sometimes it is more of a stance taken on what they see as principal.

I know about this, I have done it. Not always the best decision but sometimes it seems like the only choice.

Not at all. There have been many, many prolonged instances of hot chick reporting/discussion/action sequences that have produced extensive, involved, and impassioned debate amongst staff, some of which actually resulted in very hard feelings. In addition, each time there has been a great deal of moaning on the part of those who felt their posting rights were being denied them, along with the tired claims of unrestrained censorship. So no, it's not hyperbole.

You know, once when I was having a personally difficult time in my life (due to the suicide of a relative), I went for help. I told the therapist that I was sort of embarrassed to be complaining about feelings of not being able to breathe when there were wars and starvation and child abuse going on with people experiencing REAL suffering---all I needed to do was GET OVER IT. The therapist said that a crisis is not defined by the external but by the internal. With that in mind, I contend that it's not up to you, mat, to determine what is and is not worthy of the term. Your pretenses are showing clearly with you sitting up high there on that horse!

Oh please! Syria is a crisis. Genocide, poverty, famine and disaster are a crisis.
