I've finally pieced together a bunch of used equipment I plan on having serviced and put together by my LDS. Curious to hose length for Open Water (I've used the search button).

First Set-
MK 25
G250
G500 (24 inch hose bungied)
HOG SPG gauge

Second Set-
MK 18
R190
R190 (24 inch hose bungied)
US DIVERS DEPTH/PRESSURE CONSOLE

I'm curious to the length of the SPG Gauge that should be clipped to my hip. As well as my Primary Regulator since its open water do I need a 5-7' length hose for donation? Looking at the MK 25/18 what pressure ports should I be using for each? I'm 5'9 weigh 170 LBS and dive a BP/W. Appreciate any help.

I use 22" hoses on my bungeed alternate but a 24" should work just fine. I believe some folks go as short as a 24" hose on the clipped off SPG but I am a bit old and inflexible and find a 28" HP hose works well for me. I can also use a 30" OK but anything longer starts to get real sloppy.

I use 22" 2nd and 24" SPG as above with Miflex hoses - for rubber hoses I'd add a couple of inches to each

For long hose I use miflex 5' on my single wings since I don't do overhead on single tanks, and rubber 7' on my doubles rigs (because I don't like the way the 7' Miflex hose sits)

I'll take DIR or opinions I'm just curious to what other people were doing before I head off to my LDS. I'll most likely use rubber hoses so I guess I'll need to add a couple inches to that 24 for the SPG. Does it matter what HP/LP Ports are used?

Not really, just the ones that allow the best hose routing... spg and inflator to your left side and 2nd stages off your right

I found 5 foot hoses to be a bit short, especially when wearing neoprene. I had a bunch of LP hoses and bought some connectors and now just connect 2 LP hoses that will give me a length of 62 to 64 inches.

I compensated for the 2 extra o-rings by switching from my modern Scubapro 2nds with up to 14 o-rings to older 109s and 156 with 3 or 5 o-rings.

5' Miflex works fine for me with up to a 7mm, but obviously it depends on your build; also if you're using rubber hoses and/or connectors they're not going to wrap as smoothly

You can buy 6' hoses too, some people like using them, especially if they don't have a can light or similar to tuck the 7' hose under

Here's a pic of a mk25 with DIR hoses. http://i38.tinypic.com/155qf47.jpg
I do it the same way on my singles rig.

Go ahead and get a 7ft hose, its easily managed by tucking the loop in your waist strap or under a cannister if/when you get one. Plus, should you find yourself diving deeper or in caves, you already have a 7ft hose :) Miflex HP hoses have had less than stellar reviews, and I would pass if I were you.

24ish inches for the HP, 22ish for the inflater and backup reg, 7' for longhose. And I would advise against daisy chaining hoses together when the right hoses can be easily purchased.

Not to hijack, but can you provide some more detail or a link? I have 2, have several friends that use them, and don't know of any issues
