Hi,

I have been luking around the forum for a while now researching various items to make sure I am well informed as an inexperienced diver.

Recently I have started to look into some older reg sets and bits and pieces from ebay, hand me downs, etc... and I have discovered that there is not really one place to go to see all the pictures and get some tech knowledge for a particular brand.

Currently I am looking into Scubapro regs like the D300, 350, 400 and Mk10/15/20 type stuff, but I have also tried to look for info about US Divers/Aqualung regs like the conshelf 20. I have found that the amount of info RE Scubapro is fairly substantial though all over the place and repeated a number of times.

I would like to suggest that the key knowledge holders or the forum accepted gurus of various brands consider puting together a consolidated resource for their areas of expertise, and save themselves the hassel of re-answering the same requests over and over again. I located a german resource on SP that was an example of this proposition, but it really lacks the detail that contributers like DA Aquamaster bring to the forum.

Would anyone be willing to undertake such a project - Images, Descriptions, Options, versions for their area of expertise?

The example can be found at URL http://www.scubacollector.de/html/singlehose_regs_scubapro.html

Several of the models mentioned have service manuals posted on frogkick.

Also Larry at Scubatoys is collecting them somewhere on his website.

Oh well,

It was not really about any specific need I had now, but more a concept that would allow for some quality research into older regs that are harder to find info about. It would also allow people to ID various regs that they may not have any existing knowledge about, and get a feel for their history.

Thanks for the replies.

Daniel

I wonder if there's any sort of website about that now. Maybe one of the Vintage Divers sites? I'm sure DA or others have some links...Maybe try a PM.

If there is one good site I have not found it. The frogkick site is about as good as I have found. The best bet is to compile as much information from different sources as you can. There is one CD on Ebay all the time that claims to have a lot of information but so far I have not found anyone who has actually purchased one. For the really old regs, a copy of "Basic Scuba" by Fred Roberts is a must have ($13-15 on Amazon).

After some further thoughts about this, I considered that maybe if Scubaboard added a Wiki to the site. it would allow for the whole board to share their extrodinary combined resources, and it would take no extra effort, or not much once it was up and working??
