Is the pressure output of LP ports about the same for all brands of equipment? Specifically, I want to buy a Sherwood Minimus octopus that integrates with a BC inflator - dumping one hose in the process. But I have a Cressi regulator. The Sherwood would obviously have much greater value if it would work with a wide range of first stages, because it's so portable and easy to hook up.

most 1st stages will have about 135 psi as an intermediate pressure. You should have no problems using that set up, of course some others may argue with the choice of reg/ octo, color of fins and so on but thats to be expected here.

Here's one for the archives. A partial list of IP's for various regs.

But before I do I'll just say that the combination you want will work. Another thing to keep in mind is that you shouldn't really put an unbalanced 2nd on an Apeks or an Aqualung Legend LX and you'll probably need to adjust the second unless the IP is really identical, which will almost never be the case.

The service [tank] pressure of the Poseidons is 300 bar/4350psi.
They work fine up to 4500psi.

The Xstream's IP is 145psi, & is non-adjustable (supposedly)

The pressures shown on that list are the tank pressures required when setting/reading the IP. IP is always give like this: 145psi AT 3000psi tank pressure.

Shortly before the earths crust cooled, I used to use a Posideon Cyklon 300 on a SP MK 7 and it worked great even though the SP had an IP of 140 and the Posideon had 174.

Now I use Apeks but turn the IP down to 120 so it won't "kick start a jet engine". Works great, less prone to free flow. Of course I have 30% or more HE in my tanks for anything below 80 ft which helps to make a reg breathe easier.
