I would like to Know your thoughts on the IDI Seaira spirit flowby reg? and or any other reg that I can purchase as my first set of Equipment. I am new to diving, and have been doing my homework on the purchase of all the gear. If anyone has advice please let me Know

Thanks

I wouldn't dink around, if I could do it over again. Apex TX100 or Apex TX50 with DS4 first with an Apex TX40 as a back up. I'd get everything in DIN right away too. I'd order a 5' hose for the primary right away too. These Apex regs are awesome and they often cost much less than other regs. Price doesn't equal quality. Again, these regs are used by the most elite diver in the world as well.

What kind of diving will you be doing? Cold water? Do you have any inkling to ever do tech stuff in the future?

If you get that Halcyon BC and these regs, you're further ahead than most starting out -- gearwise anyway. Gear's not a shortcut for experience, but imagine getting the experience with the right gear right off the bat. You'll never have to throw the BC or the regs away and upgrade (or even downgrade in some cases) to better gear.

Total agreement on the Apeks line of regs. See our other posts in this same section.

Problem I am having is Know one in my area of The USA (Baton Rouge, La) Carries theses regs. Are their any online or catalog places I can Visit

I have the same problem. None of the gear I've purchased is available locally, and even if it were the prices would be high retail. The best prices I've seen is diveinn.com in Europe. The price savings will allow you to send the reg off to be fixed several times before you'll hit the high retail mark. Apex are known for their toughness and durability. There are many stories of people not rebuilding them for years and using them for extreme dives. I have the Zeagle T50D whci is the same as the Apex, and for the most part I really like it.

I too use the Apex TX100 as well as the ScubaPre Mk20 and the Seaquest XR2's. My vote would definitely be for the first two...

Sea you in the Deep Blue!

Ajax,
On the Sea-quest website there is a Dealer locater. It says Underwater Adventures Inc. is in your home town at 5555 Government St.There is another Seaquest dealer about 50 miles away.

I thought you said You were doing your homework! It looks like I'm doing it for you!:D

Sea-quest is a distributor for Apeks they should be able to help you out.

I use the Apeks Tx-50 with Tx-40 octo too, it's a great reg.

Get the Apeks TX50 with a TX40 octopus....it's the best all around regulator. But if you are going into ice then get a Jeststream..they won't freeze.

ok, I normally don't do this...but our shop has been trying to get rid of a Zeagle T50D for as long as I've worked there (almost 3 years). It is a DIN connection which is not in demand in Guam. We actually forgot we had it. We found it when we did our warehouse clean-out sale. We simply want to get rid of it. Our repair tech have checked it out, and it is fine. I emailed our Zeagle rep, and they will still cover the warranty even though Apex is no longer associated with Zeagle.

I have to wait until I get to work on Monday to check our dealer cost on it, but that is what we are selling it for. It was purchased from Zeagle in 1998 (I think).

Anyway, if anyone is interested, email me directly at work. Address is <sales@mdaguam.com>.

Like I said, I don't like to advertise here...but I know this reg is a good reg, and I hate to see it sitting here.

If I made anyone angry, I am truly sorry.
