Considering the millions of gallons of storm water and untreated sewerage released by the cities and towns in our area over the past few days, is anyone else thinking about not diving this weekend despite the great forecast? Or am I being too cautious?

Absolutely not.

It depends where you are diving. Id feel safe off Misquamicut beach as its more open ocean and not many drains running into the water but would shy away from coves or small inland bays were there is lots of runoff that does not flush out to sea well with the tide.

I'd hate to get that murky runoff water in my sinuses or in my stomach.

I think you have a good concern.

I'm about to plan something.

I was going to avoid river mouth sites just to dodge silt but the point you raise reinforces that criteria.

I took a ride out to Nahant today, the water was a lovely shade of brown.:depressed:
I imagine that Rockport would be worse with the outfall pipe so close to shore, and Folly gets all the runoff from the hill...
