With Scubapro you are buying a lot of brand name. Yes some of their products are very good but as a whole, you are paying a lot for the Scubapro name.

Ya the only reason I wanted to replace my primary second stage was to upgrade my octo the only bad thing about my 1st 2nd is that after long dives while in the water my jaw gets a bit numb and starts to hurt not sure if that has anything to do with size

No, it has nothing to do with the regulator size. Jaw fatigue is caused by improper hose length and/or routing and to a lesser extent the mouthpiece design. Both of those things are easily correctible without changing the 2nd stage. For the hose, you could try one of the mi-flex type hoses, or you reconsider your hose routing altogether and look into a long hose primary set up. Long hoses are much more flexible and exert far less torque on your mouth. By 'long hose' I mean 5ft or 7ft, not just a few inches longer. That actually makes it worse in some cases.

The mouthpiece is a personal decision; I love the seacure mold-able mouthpieces but they're expensive and everyone is different. You just have to find one that works. By far the biggest factor is the hose length and routing.

To add to halocline's post, another option would be to get a swivel or elbow. I have swivels on both of my regs, my wife does, too. It absolutely reduces jaw fatigue. Some people don't like the extra o-ring of 360 swivels and consider it a failure point, so elbows reduce that failure point. Also, if you're looking into doubles/tech/sidemount you'll want a longhose anyway as it's standard equipment for that. My wife is rec-only and dives a 7' LH and refuses to give it up because of the comfort.

As for mouthpiece, the seacure gets a lot of good press. It might be worth a shot. The other one is the Aqualung/Apex Comfo-bite mouthpiece. Again, my wife will not dive without those...but I don't like them (more for mouth feel than jaw fatigue, as they do help me with jaw fatigue).

It has been mentioned at least twice in this thread that the regulator is an upstream design. It this true? I don't remember an Omega requiring an OPV on the first stage.

It's a downstream according to the specs I received. I don't have the regulator in my hand to confirm that personally at this time.

Hmm... Typically anything with a "servo" is an upstream design and after a little digging I found this
ISSUU - Submerged Nation issue02 by Submerged Magazine - The Divers Guide

Where it talks about an upstream lever and balance chamber. On another note, I checked the IP of the DC-7 and it has a standard IP.

One of the design intents of the regulator is cave diving applications. I suspect, but do not know for certain, that the design thinking went to a desire for cave divers for their regulator to fail closed in order to preserve gas in the event of a failure. It is my understanding that side mount configuration (useful, if not essential in some cave diving applications) figured heavily in the design process. I can't speak for the company, but I'm thinking that is whats going on based on conversations with them. Not a cave diver, so some speculation on my part. I'm open to be corrected if I'm wrong.
