Its not impossible it could be the reg. My main reg is always on 100% positive on the tuning anyway.

Some regs are better than others, some will never be great breathers at depth. However 110ft/33m isnt really that deep. Most regs should if tuned properly be fine.
 
If you (and DAN) conclude that air swallowing is a possibility, try the easy test/solution: burp yourself on the way up.

Swallowing air can definitely give you gas-powered fish-feeding (as that's the natural safety mechanism to prevent injuring yourself if you have too much in your stomach), but a little burping on your way up should take care of it directly. (You may need to tilt upright to get a good burp.) If burping takes care of it, you've solved it (but pay attention to not retaining CO2, anyway -- it's a good thing).
 
While I've never had this specific problem, burping at depth can be quite interesting and enjoyable. If the OP is swallowing air, a few good burps during his safety stop (or sooner) should fix him right up. It's also fun to try and calculate how much more negative you are from any given burp... kind of like scoring the burp as a kid :)
