guys i have my spg hose running from the back of my halcyon explorer and have it conveniently clipied at the bottom on my left hip d ring. i dont have a problem unclipping it but reading the gauge from the horizontal position is a task. i had to yank and twist the gauge, at times i would have to go slightly vertical just to read it. thats how i was taught to run the spg. something wrong with what im doing?

Shouldn't it be run on the front side of the wing (closest to you)? Running it on the back side of the wing will trap the HP hose when the wing folds/molds against the cylinder.

Am I misreading something here?

I run mine along the front side of the wing. If I don't have anything else clipped to the left D ring I can just look down and see the spg, but it's easier to just unclip it, read it and clip it back. You shouldn't have to yank on the hose to see it.

It's much easier to read the spg when you unclip it if you bring it over your arm instead of under.

thats what i was thinking. anyway i was doing it wrong. il try putting it in front of the wing instead of behind.

yup thats why i knew something was amiss. thanks

For the first few dives after I rigged my SPG this way, there was simply NO WAY I could get that thing clipped back, and I had trouble reading it even with it unclipped. A few dives ago, I was able to clip i back reliably if I stopped moving, and I could read it by bringing it over my arm. This weekend, I was able to unclip and clip back easily, while on the move, and read it on the move while horizontal.

What changed? Nothing except muscle memory starting to take over, and me being more comfortable with the SPG. Takes some time to get used to it. I've done 12 dives in 3 months, and it's starting to come.
