Hence, he's been calling me Princess a lot lately.DMP:This is Paul Harvey .......and here is the rest of the story...
The next couple days of diving was great unfortunately due to my error the Princess did not get to dive on Saturday.
I wouldn't know.(was a really cool site to see).
I went snorkeling instead. Then the snorkel people where all over the place geesh!
Joe had asked me how I planned to get around whilst they were diving. Giggle, uh, duh.....your truck, Helga. :11: We bonded. I actually went shopping since I needed a beach towel. So I stopped in Diver's Direct and bought a few things. Picked out a nice little Pelican 1660 in red, new pair of Keen sandals (girl's gotta have shoes......they're ugly but functional), new mares x-vision mask, large dry bag, cute little Freestlye watch in blue with hibiscus on the face and band (my old one broke, how convenient), and my towel. I picked the towel Joe really liked from the catalog.
Helga and I took our booty and off we went to Pennekamp Park for some snorkeling. Not a bad little site. Bugged me that I had to stay inside the ropes, but whatever, I found plenty of stuff anyway. Saw a couple of parrotfish, hogfish, a little barracuda (I intimidated it )and....well screw THAT stuff.....I was out near the ledge where it drops to 30' looking at a cute little angel fish. Didn't bother going out past it since the vis was crap (little kids kick too much) and it was too deep to see the bottom. Lovely lady was standing on one of the cannons and pointed out the fins that broke the surface. She said tarpon. And I was outta there...... wrong way, I went tarpon hunting. I found them and 'bout piddled myself when I was face to face with a big one!! It was about three feet from my mask and curious. I couldn't even see the whole body in the murk. I never got a full count the vis was so bad, but I estimate there were 8-10 of them!!!!
Shortly afterwards I was in Helga headed for the grocery store. I'm a good dive buddy, on land or in the water. I was headed out to pick up the PB&J fixins for Joe's break between dives. Looked in the mirror and I had MAJOR mask face. Seems my new mask has a much larger skirt on it. It was leaking (I was starting to hate it) so I just kept pulling it tighter. :11: Obviously MUCH too tight....giggle. Turns out I had hair under the skirt. Works really well when that's not in there. Doh!!!!!
After the PB&J surface interval I headed back to Pennekamp in Helga for more snorkeling with the n00bs. The girls, Kris and Janice, had just done their first two checkout dives and needed to hit beach. We had a nice time there. Janice sunbathed while Kris and I did some more snorkeling, but no tarpon. We did go through the aquarium/visitor center they have there. And if you've never been, take the time to stop in. They have a large aquarium and several other smaller exhibits. I was pleasantly surprised and found it quite worth the time. (And free. )
Rotten shark, I paid her to bite you, not wink at you!!!!:hai:Then we saw her, a nurse shark about 6' came cruising in on an intercepting course as ours. We both are about 2 feet from her/him and I swear it blinked at me.
Proof positive that there IS a God.Got stung on my left knee by a juvenile jelly, nothing really serious just tingled a bit.
Just bustin' your chops Joey. If it's not painful enough you'll forget and do it again.
So I met back up with Joe and the group. Showed him my new towel too. :58:MY new towel, not yours......
