Used tanks are definitely the way to go if you want to save some money; steel tanks that are not wet-filled or otherwise abused will last basically forever. A shop refusing to fill an old LP72 that's current in hydro and vis is idiotic, but when idiots own the compressor, they make the rules. The only risk in buying used steel tanks is internal corrosion, and its a simple enough procedure to take the valve off and get some light inside to see. Its very easy to see corrosion if its present.

They are not much cheaper in canada.

Of cause not, they do not want us to get used to that :) They just use the momentum that people are used to the stuff being more expensive here in Canada and ride that perception.

Although the tanks are made in Ontario some dive shops still order them in the US :) I actually got my tanks through a dive shop that orders through the US and the price they gave me was lower than the price given by a diveshop that ships (literaly drives) them from the factory located 2 hours away from them :)

Ugly reality of the market
