I am going out with little deeper on sat. Just got to the boat this morning. Nice outside. The deckhand says only two divers today. This ahould be different.. Smallest i had done before was 6.

That's the joy of diving during the week. Typically much less crowded.

Sounds lovely. I am at work. SIGH. Let us know how it was. See you on the reef tomorrow!

Did Flower Garden and 1st Window. Dives where fun. My guess is viz was about 35 feet. Lots of particulate in the water but it was still blue vs. the green that you sometime get. Very little current. Ended up with 4 divers. The first dive was interesting. The four of us and the guide jump off. We start going down. I am looking at the bottom and at about 25 feet I notice I am all alone. Look up and see the guide at about 12 feet and the other three on the surface. They did not have enough weight so after a few the guide continued down and the dive was me and the guide. That was pretty cool. A private dive for me...

There where lots of jellies. Moons and a different type that hurts and has a long thin strings coming off them.. I got one to the leg on 1rst dive but avoided them on the 2nd. I chose to skip the safety stop and instead hovered at 30 feet for a about 90 seconds. Then slow to the surface. They where in packs between 0 and 20 feet deep and didn't want to deal with them. Surfaced with 73 minutes no deco time so was willing to skip it.

The boat was nice but a 20 person boat with 4 divers gives you plenty of room. Sea conditions where nearly calm. Maybe 1-1.5 foot at 8 seconds.

Saw so many fish. Lobster, shrimp, guide pointed out lots of stuff. Saw a big green eel swimming along. Maybe 8 foot long 4-5 inches in diameter. A couple squids swimming along.

Had not gone to 60 feet in a while so might have still been a little anxious as the guide gave me a couple more pounds about half way through the dive. I did a weight check at blue heron last weekend and needed one pound lead. Dove with 3 today and then added 2 so not sure what was up with that. Will start with 5 tomorrow and if heavy will drop back to four as I keep trying to find the magic number. Stomach was a little upset on dive 2 not sure why but I think it lead to sucking down my air quicker limiting me to 46 minutes on dive 2 could also have been we had more people so more people to avoid as we drift along.

Will look through my pics and see if I have any keepers.

Sounds as good as could be expected with the conditions.

I have been diving with a full wetsuit and a hood, in part to avoid contact with the stingy things.

The sea life spots sound nice.

Of course the amount of lead you will need will vary with the exposure suit and rig you are using. Also, AL tanks get lighter as they empty. You probably already know all that. I thought I would mention it just in case.

As to the tummy, I don't eat anything greasy the morning of a dive or anything acidic and that keeps my tummy happy. Some people take an antacid prophylactically.

I am excited for tomorrow morning and would love to see your pics, if you post any.

Thanks. I think the stomach thing just comes from being outside my normal routine. On dive days for a 8am boat I get up at 5am out of the house at 530 eating pop tart or muffins on the way down to west palm. Trying to wake up and hydrate etc.. Will get used to it at some point. Hoping to sleep in on Sunday and maybe catch a nap tomorrow. :)

These resources have been put together for kitesurfers but work well for predicting diving conditions as well. There are wind, wave forecast sites along with livecams for viewing conditions. I use them all the time myself for both diving and wind planning. This is the post for SE Florida, there are similar posts for the other quadrants of the state. Today seas had picked up some. Not bad but little choppy when the boat stop rolled around some. Had one person on the boat seasick. Viz was up 40-50 feet I would guess. Still particulate and some jelly swarms to avoid. Good day of diving. Not seeing any big stuff like turtles or sharks but plenty of fish and small stuff.

Stomach was still bothering me. Got sick through the reg a little 4 mins into dive 1. It worked as it should and I continued the dive washing it out some. Still only getting about 48 mins a dive on my steel 100 tanks but improving a little. 50-60 feet was the usual depth.

I did find 3 lb lead weight on the bottom. Stuffed it in my bcd to remove it. More weight for me and my first salvage that was not garbage / fishing gear. I guess about 10 bucks prize. Sleep in for me on Sunday.

It was sorta choppy for us today out of the Boca inlet. Predicted 2-3 ft seas with a short period of 4 seconds made for a bumpy ride............Saw a lot of stuff though, Black Grouper, large Spotted eel, very nice bright blue cleaner shrimp out in the open in it's anemone, gigantic Midnite Parrot. A pair of really large triggers AND they didn't attack us--so that's good!! Nice dives--good folks=fun!

Headed out tomorrow to start my last week of diving for the year. Hope for clear viz and calm seas but if not, any day diving is better than a day at the office!
