Silt

Enjoying Venice for the next two weeks. Went out today, the clay silt still seems to be blanketing the area. I've not been diving vencie for more than a handful of years however I don't remember seeing the silty bottom (or the suspension when the area gets stirred up) until after they put down the limestone blocks.

I'd say the waves were around 2-3 feet today. Here are some picture of the trip showing visibility and how deep the silt/clay bottom was in certian areas. I did find a patch of clear bottom in the midst of some of the silt/clay bottom perhaps 4 feet in diameter. I wasn't sure if the two snails in the middle of it had cleaned it or it was simply an elevated portion of the bottom. I'm hoping it was the snails.

Uh oh. I dealt with that kind of silt last September, during my first trip to Venice. Coming back this September also, so I sure hope it goes away soon...:depressed:

Todays visibility

This should give you an idea of what visibility was like today and here are some of the creatures I ran across while hunting teeth. The manits shrimp was about 12" long and came right out of his hole when I pulled my camera out. I need to look up the fish in the other hole. I've seen it before but am not sure of the name at the moment.

The finds from Saturday's dive. Some nice things being found out there... Was completely excited when I found the second half of the meg. Until I got it back to shore and realized I had "two left megs" :)
