Nice shots of The Northerner Jim. I just might have to meet up with you the next time I visit my sisters and their kids in Woodstock, IL !

What exactly is the figurehead? It looks similar to the ram on The Sandusky.

Paula

The photo's were taken with a Nikonos II camera with a Subatec 17MM lense. I have an old Oceanic 2000 strobe and a hodge podge slave unit. Paula, good call, the figure head is in fact a rams head. Somebody took some time when they put her together. I sometimes wonder what this schooner looked like under sail. Beautiful wreck.

This a.m. the lake was not as calm as I like, but met at the Portwashinton Marina with Joe,we were off in the fog and 2-3 foot sea' s On the wreck of the Niagara we were down to the wreck in no time,
Vis was 20'+ and temps 38-41 Took,Joe on a tour of some china, the engine, the wreck and sidewheels then off to the 3-boilers,met several Bourbout/Lawyers-They seem to be at the wrecks! Joe I hope had some good photos,
Bit more than 30 Min and then top side, the lake was calm, but fog was in low and did not burn off.
Great Dive and hope to dive with him again!
Brad

Well after having to work most of the day Saturday and a miss out on a dive and party,Sunday was a Great Fathers day! Wife and kids gone time to do some diving!

Did a early trip to check out the bouy on the Hetty Taylor up in Sheboygan, well two fish net floats on 3/8 Nylon=Bring a top man and anchor line~!
Then trip to Milwaukee-and the Appomattox,The lake was calm and the trip fast! Nice Mooring like the Niagara's so no problem with a solo dive, the wreck is 15' -22'
Man for the folks that shore dive this it looks like a hike down the stairs to the lake then a several hundred yard swim,NO THANKS I will take the SS Moneysaver!
First dive of the year WET! It was GREAT! had the lead right! for such a shallow dive,Well the wreck is like many of the DoorCounty Wrecks beat up,But man a large wreck!
And in fair shape for the Shallow water,Tons of Walleye 2-4lbs they would come face to face with you if you held your air blow down,And no camera this time, next time!
Well at 60 min it was time to head up,not cold ,not low on air,and no place near deco!it was time to catch some sun,log some past dives, all in all it was a great fathers day!
Hope you all got some bottom time in today!
Brad

Sounds like you did have a great Father's Day! I just got back from Key Largo and had a great time. My next Lake Michigan dive will be July 10th on a charter, and would love to make it up there a week or 2 after that. Those picture SwimJim took look awsome!

Hey Dean,
Come on up some weekend and we will get you on some wrecks!with the weather with no rain the lake is clear with out all the run off,and Milwaukee has not had any big sewer dumps so all is GOOD!
Man The Keys, the water had to be like a bath tub! I would dive that this time of year in a T-shirt & Swim suit!
Good luck on the charter & let us know how it was,
And yes the photos SwimJim took on the Northener were great,On the way down the vis was yuck, but at about 80' the whole thing just opened up and it was a trip to the past she is a great wreck!

I always wear a wetsuit, no matter what. For protection if nothing else. There was an instructor on one of the trips out that only wore a dry suit! He does a lot of cave diving and I guess he didn't like to break his style!

Acutally, the Spiegal Grove was a little chilly at depth. Couldn't see how the two wearing just a t-shirt and swim trunks, and NO GLOVES climbing though all that steel could do it! I envied the guy with the twin tanks of nitrox. I maxed out after 25 minutes at that depth, but he was still going strong!
