Ladies, would you hesitate to take a technical diving course because of the equipment requirements including double cylinders and deco and/or stage bottles.

I'm not posting it in the Women's forum because I think this issue is of importance to all divers. I've been debating this point with several men who don't think that it is so difficult. Then I watched a PADI DSAT video featuring a pumped up guy doing pushups in his doubles. :11:

How do you feel ladies?

When I was diving in the PI there was a very slight of build lady doing a tech diving course with a drysuit and doubles, very impressive.

Just so that the 1st two replies to your post would be from men, I thought I'd say..... :D"Hello":D

Anyone, feel free to comment. I just want to know how ladies feel.

I still consider myself a new diver, but I some point, I wouldn't mind getting into more technical stuff - after I have a lot more training and dives under my belt. I think the cost of the equipment more so than the amount is a factor now, as well as my buddy having told me time and again that if I want to try more advanced diving, I can tell him about it back on the shore. . . .being land lock is also a factor.

The extended time @ depth and the depth itself present more of an issue to me than donning the equipment. My answer to the poll was "no".

An interesting question.

I'm not going to answer the poll (I dont qualify) but FWIW... I think the equipment of diving is a turn off for ladies in general. Clearly not all ladies... but for many and this contributes to the sex ratios we see on the boats.

I'd like to see something done about the tanks... maby the shape and material could be made lighter and conform more easily to the back.

Its too heavy...
Its too bulky...
Its not flattering...

im a boring old f**t of a woman i like easy, cruisy, pretty things to look at dives, preferably in warm water... just leave me at the 5mtr line to play with clown fish or christmas tree worms and im happy (while hubby spending an hour taking photos)

technical diving isnt my thing. im not interested in diving deeper or longer, im not into wrecks or cold water or making my dives more challanging BUT i will say the whole look of the deco/stage tanks ect looks very cool and its not this aspect that turns me off

cheers

Flattering, Tollie?

I'm a yes for now mostly on space and money considerations. I don't have either.

I don't think that women shouldn't tech dive because of the gear but for me right now, I don't have the time, money, space or strength to go tech. I may some day as I would like to do more wreck diving and other stuff but it's not my thing right now.

One lady I dive with on occasion is tiny, I think she weighs 110 and her doubles weigh 75. She does it without complaint so it's all a matter of will and interest.
