I regularly dive Monterey, PtLobos, SanMiguel etc cold water (high 40s to low 50s) in a 7/6/5mm Excel attached hooded wetsuit. But I also add a 7mm Henderson hyperstretch hood first below my regular hooded wetsuit. This has made all the difference in staying warm. Before double hooding, by the end of my 2nd cold water dive I'd be getting "cool". After I began double hooding, I am usually toasty. Can do 3dives, or in the case of SanMiguel, up to 6 dives a day by double hooding (as long as I stay out of the wind).

I can't hear a thing though


ps: I remember hearing about the guy in the speedo. He "ain't" going to be having "no" kids, though!

BTW, a couple of years ago there was a Russian tourist
couple snorkeling Whaler's Cove in their Speedos.

LOL! They probably thought is was warm too!

I wear a DUI CF200 with Zip Dry Gloves, an Andy's AU 100 undersuit and an REI Poly Layer for wicking. DUI 7mm Hood and Rock boots round off the get up. Always warm.

I used to use a Diving Concepts TPS Extreme Undersuit but it was actually too warm for me. (I'm selling it in the Gear Classified Section by the way)

Most Dives are between 40-80' or so. 30-50 minutes.

I love diving in Monterey! On a recent trip to Maui I found myself talking more about Monterey than the diving at hand. They blow us away on vis. but there is much more to see here...when you can see it.
