When I look at former US presidents, there has really only been one who has maintained my respect and he was considered a "failure" as president. Of course I'm referring to Jimmy Carter, a man who lives his faith and his beliefs more admirably than any of the other former presidents IMHO. Yet he seems to win only begrudging respect compared to others.
Much as some may dislike Bill Clinton, I think he may also do so to a lesser extent. Time will tell.
I'd take either of these over some of the others, although in fairness Reagan was fairly incapacitated following his term in office.
