I have been using DiveRite SS plate & Oxycheq 30# wing. And just last week, I finalized my coversion to long hose bungee setup. 7ft rubber hose/22" phantom. My issue is hose routing coming out of 1st stage.

Picture 1 is with wing fully deflated. Oxy wing's shell is very stiff. Even fully deflated, it retains its shape.

Picture 2 & 3 show the relative position of the tank, 1st stage & the wing (deflated). See how the LPI hose is kind of banded

Picture 4 shows when wing if inflated to near full capacity. The wing is pushing against the 1st stage, phanton (backup) hose and the LPI hose.

Picture 5 is a close up at the 1st stage LP port area when wing is inflated. The LPI hose seems to be banded quite serverely.

Do you experts see any issue with this setup? Any improvement I can make. Thanks in advanced.

I really do not like that last pic. I'd second trying to mount the reg upside down. How far will that stick up is the question then. I have found that some regs do not offer optimum hose routing for BPW's when the wing is mounted on the high side. I have HOG's that route perfectly and my CDX5's work OK also. The sherwoods do ok since the hoses are vertical instead of horizontal when mounted. I have an old Aqualung 1st that I would not even try to get to work. Do you need all of the hoses. Going to a suit bottle would help with the one hose that seems to be kinked the worst. But without a 5th port like the HOGs have, the only other option may be a swivel or right angle on the 1st stage if it will allow the other hose to still go on.

Do you have a 5th port on the turret - at the "bottom" of the turret? If so, you can run your long hose off of that port and pivot the 1st stage a bit "turret to diver right", which would give you a bit more room for everything.

(I see Jim mentioned the 5th port already)

it is some crazy quater DIR style.

-boltsnap on primary is too far from 2'st stage
-inflator hose is too long
-lot of usless stuff on webbing
-computer sender on stage short hose ? :)
- far too long gauge hose

hose routing OK ; due to ports orientation

I *believe* you meant to say boltsnap too far from 2nd stage:

-boltsnap on primary is too far from 1'st stage

Since you are using an Atomic first stage, route the 7' hose from the 5th LP port located on the bottom of the turret. You will need to have the first stage at a slight angle, not straight up and down (see the link below, the picture right after the title saying "Diving One First Stage). I know it's not the best, but you should get the idea from it.

Equipment Configuration | Global Underwater Explorers

DIR single tank setup. Look at Post #3

Angling the reg to the right and using the 5th LP port for the hong hose will not work very well as the OP has a short 6" HP hose w/transmitter on the right side which would then stick up too much. My suggestion would be to get a few hose protectors which will reduce the strain. Yeah, it ain't DIR for easy inspection but the simple solution is to slide the hose protectors down when rinsing. Which is a good idea anyways as then water gets in to where it is needed.

Now the other to look at is the orientation of the turret. The spacing of the LP ports is not even on Atomics. There are 2 ports, a small gap, 2 ports, and then a large gap. It looks to me that you have the small gap to the back and the large gap to the front. Which is what you want. But it is hard to tell. Double check that.

I would swap the LPI so that the dry suit hose is next to the wing.

Suggestion for the short 6" HP for the transmitter. I have the same set up for my transmitter but on a 9" and QD. It is long enough that I can tuck it back under all of the LP hoses so that it sits between the wing and cylinder. This routing keeps the transmitter from dangling around and banging against the cylinder.

Can you mount the first stage upside down?

I did it with 2 dives this weekend with turret up and 2 dives with turret down. With turret up, it stick out quite obviously. I will take some pictures tonight.

It is an Atomic 1st stage. It has a 5th LP port at the bottom. I have tried using it, but as you can see in Pic 2, the amount of clearance between the turret to the AL80 is tight. With long hose coming out from bottom, the 1st stage need to tilt. Drysuit hose on the other side is touching the tank. I will try to take some picture with that setup too.

I don't see how HOG is different than Atomic. Their port arrangement is almost the same. Too bad, HOG doesn't come in YOKE. With din to yoke adapter, the 1st is pursh even close to the wing. I will try to borrow a HOG and see how it works too.
