PK Dive report

We started out at 7am loading up the Bass Boat and heading to picked up a friend in Weatherford.
Two of us were diving Nitrox HP100’s and Gary was diving his Kiss rebreather (drool.)
We all prepped the gear to predive and backed in the boat before launch.
Simple drive out to the cliffs; it had to be in the nineties (air temp) before we hit the water.
Dropped in the gear tied to the boat via line, splashed in with mask and fins and geared up in the water.
Cave training helped since everything was attached to my rig.
So HP100, 5mil wetsuit and 10 lbs of weight- worked great.

Vis and temps as follows-
Top 15 feet was pee green as expected and at least in the 80’s.
About 25 ft it opened up to 6-8ft vis and cooled to a comfy 70’s.
35 ft first serious thermocline, vis opened up to a solid 10-12ft and temp dropped easily to the sixties.
45ft second thermocline and we started to lose the light. Typical moonscape with tree stubs, cans and bottles.
Optimal conditions seemed to be in the 40 to 50ft range with a 5mm suit and 10 watt HID. Dive time one hour.
We recovered a heavy mushroom anchor and a nice aluminum boat deck chair.
Fish life is decent with small blue gills, small cats, and perch.

Site has great potential and we are thinking of running deeper dives; reminds me a lot of Travis.
So we will be looking for new sites at PK with things to play with.
Drive back was seriously hot with temps from 104 to 110 on the truck.
Gear was dried by the time we made it home.
Sorry no pictures not sure on how much space we would have on the boat.

Later, Andrew

I have been thinking about heading out there. Thanks for the report!
