Pink Dive Equipment

Hiya, hope you don't mind me joining in, but I've got a black and pink wetsuit (Ripcurl) so I feel like i fit here... why don't sharks try to eat us if we wear black then, and look kinda like them? Or do they try to eat us, and i should get a bigger knife?

And question 2 (for a bonus point): what's the best thing to do if a shark approaches you - stay still, or do something (and if so, then do what?) You'll gather from this that i haven't met one yet, pink or no pink (they're not so common in the Irish sea in January)

I met a GUY at the airport who whas picking up pink bags and gear.

he said that his equipment kept getting stolen but since he bought the pink stuff he has not had any problem.

because nobody wants it??? or it would be easy to spot?????

I have no clue, but I do know some sharks have very bad eye sight and I believe they are attracted to smells. Now if a diver is all in black and combine that with bad eyesight one might think a diver looks like a seal or sealion sloshing around in the water near the surface.

I am mostly in Pink and very visible to my dive buddy, however I do need a new pair of Pink Booties, mine are about shot.

I heard from Gypsy Divers that they had Scuba Pro make a run of pink twins, and they had to buy a thousand to get it done. I am sure they would love to sell some to any 'pink' fans out there....

All kidding aside, hot pink is the second best color for underwater visibility. My wife and I spent a whole day at DEMA trying to buy her a pair of pink fins that were suitable for her diving style. NADA. Not only can't you get pink, most of the other high visibility colors are really hard to find if not impossible.

Actually that is incorrect information.

There was a total run of 500 pair, divided between 4 dive shops (I think, total dive shops I am not sure of), however I know a shop in Morehead City, NC has some, a shop in Peachtree, GA and the shop I bought my fins from in Raleigh, NC. Don't know the other shops, but I do know the 500 pairs is correct at least that is what my dive shop told me I think the got about 100 pairs, from what I recall but not sure of the exact number.

My daughter is interested in learning to scuba dive with me. Unfortunately she is too young for scuba diving but I have talked her into learning how to snorkel. You guessed it, she wants a PINK snorkeling set. I have looked at most of the on-line vendors but have yet to find a complete youths (6-10 yr old) snorkeling set in Pink. Anyone know where I can find one?

Hi Everone,

I've recently passed my Padi Open Water course and now i'm totally hooked on scuba diving!

My partner and I are in the process of buying our own equipment and doing some UK dives. My partner has had no problem in buying his equipment but I (being a really girly girl who wants eveything to be in pink....mask, fins, bcd, wetsuit etc) am having some trouble finding pink equipment. Can anyone reccommend any websites where I might be able to find my pink paradise?

I've got a couple of Pink Tanks I'll sell you... AL80 & AL92... both in Hydro and vis Inspected. These belonged to my wife, but she bought some new steel tanks... hard to find anyone that wants Pink Ones.. Let me know if Interested... and Happy Pink Hunting

We all know light waves change under water, changing what colors we see or how they appear. Any studies that could tell how well and what colors if any a shark can see? We always look at things from our prospective, sharks may see pink as a medium shade of grey. They(whoever they are?) say some sharks have good vision but most don't. I fish, and fish don't seem to care that chartreuse Worms don't exist, they still bite at them. I think it's more of general shapes and motions that may cause the mistaken I.D., couple that with smells and/or vibrations of body movements that may sound(feel) to them, like an injured(easy meal) Dunno, just my 2 cents
