Diver Dennis:
I just got back too. The people of the Philippines are terrific and the PPD even better. I was quite surprised by the wonderful diving. It's as good as Palau and about half the price. I'm going back in May...

When you say as good as Palau....for what? Last year I met George in Palau one of the owners of Altantis...When asking him to compare the diving....he said the smaller stuff...is better than Palau...But not for the Medium or large stuff at either of his resorts. Keith who owns Palaudive.com just went to the Philippines and loved it...but again small stuff.

I am currently researching going to the Philippines but the only place I can find for the Pelagics is the Cebu area...if you or anyone else can add to my research...please let me know.

Thanks

^^^^ Hi Travelnsj,

Southern leyte is known for whale sharks. Ticao is also known for whale sharks and mantas. As you noted, malapascua on the north tip of Cebu has thresher sharks. Hope that helps.

Go to Maningning (Maniguin) Island. Contact the folks at Victory Divers or Calypso Divers (both are based in Boracay) to get on a spot on one of the overnight trips.

Trying to find diving info on Boracay and Maniguin not easy to find much...what I have found looks good....Is the diving better than Malapascua Island off Cebu?

Better!?!?! Better would be an understatement......Region VI ROCKS!!!

Are you talking about big stuff or small...Or both?. I am into Pelagics and action like Palau and warm water. September is when I think i may go to the Cebu area as it boosts about the Threasher sharks.

Any specific in is appreciated...Before I make my decision.

Thanks

September would be manta season in Malapascua. You can dive Monad Shoal in the morning for the Thresher sharks and in the afternoon for the mantas. Contact Thresher Shark Divers for the best time in September.
