I waited three weeks too long to buy my regulator service tools from scubatools.com! I was shocked to see that Peter Built is going out of business and is effectively out of stock on just about everything.

So, I am looking for a few service tools, and wanted to see if anyone here would be willing to part with these:

Part # Description
------- -----------------------
20-150-200 Scubapro MK20/MK25 Assembly Tool
43-040-000 Scubapro "Universal Tool"
20-115-100 First Stage Handle
20-500-200 Pneumatic Adjusting Tool

I'm willing to negotiate cost with anyone who's got one or more of these items. I'm most interested in the Assembly Tool and the Pneumatic Adjusting Tool, since these are just about impossible to substitute or find anywhere else.

I sure hope that someone is planning to fill-in the gap left by the folks at Peter Built!

I had heard rumblings to that effect.

Tobin has been dipping his toe into the arena with a few handy items.

I'm glad I splurged when I did.

It's quite a line, I would hope somebody will take it on.

I was informed by scubatools that their site and much of the inventory and tools was bought by 1 person and the rights and website would be turned over in april to the new owner. Just wait and most things should be available again soon.

I wanted to buy the same items... found out from the site about the closure... that sux!!!

Northwoods - I hope you're right - I guess it's a good sign that someone bought the domain name.

OK I'm doubting that I'll find anyone willing to part with their MK20/MK25 assembly tool from scubatools.com, but maybe there is another way.

Would anyone out there who owns one of these items be willing to sit down with a digital caliper and dimension it for me? I have a very good machine shop here, and I'm pretty sure I could have one made up pretty easily.

Any takers?

I'm pretty sure AWAP has one, so you might send him a PM. I don;t know if he has a micrometer, though. Another thought would be to call Peter at scubatools and ask him. He had it built, so he definitely knows, and it wouldn't surprise me if he would tell you. The only rub might be if he's selling old stock and wants to preserve the business for the new owner.

Hmmm...I saw a mini lathe for sale today - the need to make tools and maybe sell one or two could be a nice excuse to buy it.

PM me with your e-mail address and I ca send you the dimensions of the Mk 20/25 assembly tool. It would be pretty simple to turn one out of delrin, nylon or aluminum.

The second stage adjustment tool should be available from any shop that is a trident dealer. If you can't find one locally let me know and I will see if I can help you out.

I have heard basically the same though I do nto think the inventory went with the sale. "it seem a quite capable machinist friend of his has purchased the book and also quite a bit of the other items and will be putting many of the old Peterbuilt products back into production under a new company."

I would just wait a bit for the transition to happen and see where it goes. (Although I can say that as I have all the tools I need).

I should add that they are retiring and closing the business - which is slightly different than going out of business which typically implies the business failed. I think they were quite successful.

You can get the Mk20 assembly tool and a version of the
"Universal" ScubaPro tool directly through a ScubaPro dealer.
