We were supposed to swim in a single line up to a certain spot and the two people behind me kept going above me and beside me. They almost kicked me in the face several times. Finally, I decided to just drop back to the end of the line so I could get away from them.

Good decision. On those crowded "cattle boat" dives staying at the back is usually best. Everybody else is playing follow the leader anyways and mostly only sees the fins of the person in front.

Beer and I have been good friends for quite sometime. (Notice my avatar - 10 lbs of me in a 5 lb wetsuit :shakehead:)

DivingPrincessE - What is a Christmas tittle?

Personal pet peeve: More experienced divers with little/no patience with noobs. We're all new sometime.
As far as diving goes, I have all the patience in the world with less experienced divers (but not incompetent ones).. It makes me feel a bit less noobish :p

my pet peeves apply to things other than scuba, one's when people apply things (rules, sometimes) to the letter even when doing so just doesn't make sense and another is when people go to a class, or dive with a more experienced buddy in order to learn and improve their skills but really make no attempt to learn anything new. put these 2 together is one person and i might go nuts. some guy came to a few of my OW pool sessions to get extra practice before doing his checkout dives. whenever we were standing in the shallow end and the instructor was explaining something he'd be breathing off his reg and and had quite a bit of air in his bc. then he'd be floating around with his life jacket on doing some glorified snorkeling while the rest of did what we were supposed to (swim underwater to the deep end then try to hover)... i think this led to me being annoyed by the sound of a reg being breathed in air (though i'll never complain about that sound underwater)

Okay I'll do a top ten list for my pet peeves:
10. cost
9. Finding the dive site in your car, and once you get to the entry point not being able to find the good spot under water you read about online
8. rental gear (especially when mouthpiece is chewed into mush
7. fear of sharks
6. mouthfuls of salt water
5. misreading the tide charts and dive becoming one you really shouldn't be doing with your limited training
4. dive sites without a good spot to go to the bathroom / having to go to the bathroom while all suited up in a wet suit (I drink a lot of water in general, so this is a constant need :) )
3. Warm water divers (jealousy)
2. Cold water divers with a dry suit (jealousy)
1. Starting to descend while you still have the snorkel in your mouth :)

* I mean this semi-jokingly, although all stuff I've experienced

I went snorkling around the lake once while my sisters Golden Retriever was running around on the shore.. Well, for about 20 seconds after I put my face into the water that is. The stupid dog came swimming out dragging me back to shore by my mask. It was kinda freaky considering dogs tend to have rather sharp teeth..

My pet peeves are the following

Divers that have a superiority complex and love to tell everyone how much better the agency they certified under are, compared to other agencies, for example GUE versus TDI etc

Big heads that try to show off how great they are at diving and spend more time under water trying to look stylish than enjoying the dive

The affformentioned who at the end of the dive, you are back on the boat offer you advise by pointing out all the things you in their opinion did wrong during the dive, continue to offer advice as to how your gear should be configured.
