Pearl Lake - Saturday - Opening Day

Spring Greetings Everyone!

I'm heading to Pearl Lake near Rockford, IL on Saturday, opening day. I'm meeting a friend and we're going to dive for a few hours. Yea for dive season.

Anyone else going? Supposed to be a nice day out.

Not me. I'll be on Lake Michigan all weekend.

while i would rather dive haigh or the lake, fact is the person im diving with lives like 20 miles north of rockford and has to be somewhere that night. figre id be nice and trek to rockford instead of making her do a 3 hour drive to kankakee

Make sure you post how it was. I was looking at the opening, but I Am a whimp. So I would be interested in the water temps!!

Back from a great day at Pearl Lake. Weather was nice and sunny - 70* air.

Water was crystal clear. . . Was one of the first divers in the water for the season. Water temps ranged from 46* to 51* shallow. Mini thermocline, but probably from the sun. Vis was 20-30 feet but im sure that will change once some divers start moving things around.

Just be careful, Pearl no longer is renting anything. They told me they wanted to get away from the life support business. They'll still do air fills but no more equpment rentals.
