I ran up and down the line of drift to China Barge and back and ended up circling back to @CosbySweater who (I think) saw the same thing I did - a sleek, mature Caribbean reefie trailing a super long white (Dyneema?) fishing line. The shark meandered off and when I went to Buzz Lightyear velocity to try to catch up and cut as much line off, the shark just vanished in two, maybe three, tail wags.
Yes! Had to have been 30-40 yards worth of Dyneema hanging off that Reefie. I saw you trail it. Was hoping you we're able to cut some line off for him. I was too slow.

Anyone else on Kyalami on Sunday out of Riviera Beach?

yesterday was south current, blue down to 35 ft then green and 12-25 ft vis on bottom, clearer south of inlet than north, warm all the way to bottom, uncomfortably warm actually, probably 87 is my guess. Found a few lobsters but conditions made it tough, plus diving backwards is always weird for us.

It was the same in Jupiter unfortunately.

Boat diving today Goliath Grouper aggregation. Went out of Riviera Beach with Kyalami. Headed north to Jupiter. DM jumps in to check for vis, comes back said he never saw the crows nest of the wreck till it almost smacked him in the face. We went south.
First dive ripping current. Fun, but no stopping to look at anything. Did see one GG and got a few photos, and some yellowhead jawfish, but nothing much else. As we were finishing up our safety stop, I look out to see a small manta ray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Second dive, much mildier current, and the three of us buddy team quickly found us left behind. All is good. We planned it that way. Saw yellowhead jawfish, garden eels, and lots of fish.
Good diving with @MrChen, been a long time buddy!!

Sorry I missed this trip.

Manta ray?!?! That’s awesome!!

Scheduled this weekend to finish painting our daughter’s room but had to get in touch with my inner plumber instead when the supply pipe into the guest bathroom decided to suddenly and catastrophically quit.

As I vacuumed up Lake Okeechobee in the bathroom, hallway and kitchen I took back all the times I cursed my oversized wet/dry shop vac for taking up too much space in the garage.

Oh you silly beach diver. That wasn't a ripping current. That was more like a moderate current.

It was great diving with you guys and that Manta was awesome!

I searched my dive log for manta and had 2 previous hits. One said false manta and the other said I wasn't sure if it was a manta or spotted eagle ray, which means I didn't have a good view of it. So, I will officially say that was my first confirmed manta!

I'll take a look at my videos today and see what I was able to capture.

As I feared, by the time I could get the GoPro on, it was an ass shot.
