Hi all,

I was hoping someone could give me some info on the equivalency of PADI qualifications in terms of IANTD qualifications.

I would like to do Deep Diver with IANTD but I am note sure whether IANTD instructors will accept my PADI courses (Open Water, Advanced Open Water and Nitrox Diver). I have over 50 logged dives in depths of up to 30m and waters as cold as 8 degrees celsius on both air and nitrox.

So can someone tell me if my PADI courses will let me take the IANTD Deep Diver course

Thanks

IANTD Deep Diver Course

Here is one reference I found for the deep course. I would think that the instructor has the final say on whether or not you are good to go. Contact one and see. Iw ould suggest that your buoyancy control, propulsion techniques, and basic skills be better than average to get the full benefit of the course.

As Jim's link depicts. Yes, you have satisfied the prerequisites of the agency but not necessarily of the instructor who will probaly want to confirm your skills in a pool or shallow water.

You may wish to combine deep diver with advanced nitrox & perhaps advanded recreational trimix. Some instructors offer substantail discounts with a bundled course package. My recent training invloved deep diver/adv rec trimix using IANTD and advanced nitrox/deco procedures with TDI in order to gain the usage of 100% O2. I believe the entire package was $1,200.00. Good luck!

I don't see why not, but like Jim said, check with the instructor. I've done several cross agency certifications and never had a problem with any of the instructors letting me take the class as long as I've had the appropriate level of training prior.

Must be qualified as an IANTD Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent.
Must provide proof of a minimum of 10 logged dives.

Don't worry too much about the stated pre-requisites. It's really at the instructor's discretion (given the 'or equivalent' clause is open for interpretation).

I took Deep Diver (IANTD) with only PADI Open Water and IANTD Nitrox cards.

No problem. Enjoy your course(s). I would also consider doing advanced nitrox in conjunction with deep.
