Miller I agree with you with the lake depth. I too set my lake depths to 50 feet unless there is a specific reason as the depths are just not very well lit deeply. but you are right in the ocean its very easy to confuse 80 feet for 90 and 90 for 100. Thats why its very important to rely on your guages!

Just to answer your question and without having read all the answeres

The deep "limits" recommended by PADI are:

OWD 18m
AOWD 30m
Deep Specialty 40m

The one deep dive you did in your AOWD course is NOT the Deep Specialty (but it can be taken into account when you do the Deep Specialty) which implies 4 deep dives
