OW classes - Things I wish I learned ?

My LDS did the ol' "10 lbs of your body weight is what you need in lead weight."
I recall reading how you set your weight by trying to remain "eye level" with the surface of the water while floating vertically and your BC not inflated. This is also how my instructor told me to set my weight (after he handed me a few weights and set me up perfectly)
I agree thinking there is a lot more PADI can teach, but then how many people would take the class if it went on for months? And what would it cost?
 
I've done only OW and while I appreciate that you will really only master your skills having practiced them after your initial training I do feel that I would have benefited from the training including something about trim. They've dealt with buoyancy control but never spoke a word about trim, it's a concept I only learned about on ScubaBoard and I think it makes a huge difference to your diving.
 
The issues with weighting.... It's not the fault of PADI. I spend time with my divers putting right problems like that. Just watching a diver and how he/she moves tell a huge story about weighting and trim and just a few minutes chat between dives can sort out some basics. True, I've come across the lazy ones who insist on piling on the lead to ensure the diver sinks first time, but the answer is to get the right ammont. A little over is better than underweight, but too much causes other problems down the line.
