The Oriskany Sinking is today. It was scheduled to "blow" at 10am, but I just got a call from someone who's on a boat on site and they are just announced over the radio that they are going to blow it in the next 10 minutes (a little early).

They have been debating whether or not people will be able to tell if they blast went off since it's so deep in the ship.

Supposedly they are using a webcam on site and relaying the signal back to the Pensacola Beach webcam site, but I can't tell anything from the pics. It appears the camera is out of position on the boat.

URL's for the webcam are:

Did SBM take "Miss Jellyfish" out to watch?

Just got another call... the sinking has been slightly delayed by a small plane that was flying too close and they had to get a Coast Guard aircraft on scene to "chase it off".

He's there, but I don't think he'd be in the Miss Jellyfish

I wonder how long before we can dive the site?

They've stated that diving will be allowed after 48 to 72 hours, which will be used to check the wreck for dangerous items that might have shifted and to make sure all the charges have blown.

...and to make sure all the charges have blown.
Good plan :)

I am going to try and get down there in early July (8th/9th) and dive it. Where should I go out of? What shops?

Thanks
Chris

If they haven't, that could make for a serious pucker-factor dive! LOL

sure do wish there was a better video feed of some kind, not that it will be very dramatic....still would be cool to get a look closer than the above link...none of the major news outlets(CNN, Fox News, etc.) seem to be covering it like they did for the Spiegel Grove....oh well, with any luck I'll be seeing it on the ocean floor in a few weeks

Cnn is, they have the pipeline on it.
