Hahahahahahaha.

Oh Geez :wipes tears from eyes:

Oh wow.

I think that is the first time I've heard of Halcyon gear being compared to a Kia.

Giggle.

Tell you what, you go ahead and splash around with your big ol' "Hummer" wings and leave the Kias to us.

Hahahahaha.

Love and kisses,
Peter

If you read the post right i never said anything or even mentioned anything about Halycon gear. i have been refering to oxycheq wings this entire time.

Oxycheq (exposed bladder) = Kia sportage

Oms (bladder inside of 1000 denier Cordura ) = hummer

clearer analogy now?

3500psi,

Even though I would not normally reply to a post such as yours, I will in this case. Also, for what it is worth, your type of e-mail is exactly why mfgs will not post to lists.

If you have ever really taken a class in "Quality", or taught them as I have. You would find out that often McDonald's is referred to as an example of "high quality". They make a consistent product. I know you have not taken any quality classes based on your comments and if you did, you need to go back through your notes. I have designs for a bulletproof wing, but there comes a point where the market is too small for a titanium door stop.

Lots of mfgs use Urehtane coated materials for single bladder wings or BCs. I myself have one from SeaQuest that is ten years old. It also has an outside gusset ... none of this stuff is new, and it is proven or nobody would continue to mfg them that way.

The OMS wing you refer to does not have a gusset because it is only a 30# lift ... neither does the OxyCheq 30#.

The OxyCheq 30# is a full 360 loop, your choice of wing is not ... there is a seperation at the bottom and the two bottom sections do not connect. Personally, I would not design a wing like that due to the possibility of trapping air in that region as it is a 355 degree wing and not a 360.

That said, I will have a wing at DEMA that will have a seperate internal bladder and you will have access to it and it will be a 360 wing. The quality will be the same as the rest of our wings. Do I think it is neccessary, no. Are there tradeoffs in using an internal bladder, yes.

Best regards,

Patrick Duffy

When theres a product that is well made, including what i have seen from oxycheck, they deserve the respect.....BUT i also did say that i have not made a descion yet, there are a cpl of major brands who i have in mind, OMS, Diverite, haylcon, and Oxycheck, i like the OMS IQ, it looks alot more comfortable, has alota places to clip off extra lights, etc, and so on, as for the wing of the oxycheck 3500 psi, you are right it dosnt have a bladder, exposing it to the enviroments, and that i one of the reasons why i havent chosen it yet.....But then again, i havnt found any PROOF where a diver has had problems with that type of system. i for MYSELF will be diving both TECH with double tanks, and pleasure dives on a 60' reef with single tanks, looking for the best gear to suit both, if there is anything out the like that,,, hehehe, keep the replys going, everyone is a learning experiance .............

Thank you Patrick for taking your time out of such a busy day you guys have to explain yourself to somone as 3500 psi. We appreciate the feedback and the responces from the designers of their produsct's, and im sure just about every pc of equipment out there made for diving isnt 100% bullet proof, every day that passes we all learn from the past, improve the future, and keeping in mind that somones life goes into each pc of equipment made and we depend on to "Breath " under water. until man can become fish, and not rely on equipment to breath underwater, we are all just aliens in an underwater enviroment, with everyday getting better, thanks again.............

I came down pretty hard on 3500PSI when I really should have just ducked out of the thread all together.

My apologies to those of you who had to read my snarky flamage and apologies to 3500PSI.

I should have kept it to a private message, or not have responded at all.

Etc,
Peter Doege

PS. Now that I think about it, confrontation and flamage can be a large part of my verbal repertoire. It works well in person, but is ineffective in electronic message board such as this.

edit: Fixed silly typo

how much for the oxycheck titanium door stop???

buuuuuuut seriously, how much would it inrease the price %-wise to make the outer bag of a bladder/bag style wing from something like kevelar?

I have been told small custom manufacturers are out there using kevelar, but haven't seen anything for sale.

Patrick,

glad to hear that you are making a new wing that has an internal bladder. I know that it is most likely overkill but like to know that my gear is bullet proof, no matter what the costs. For god sakes look at all these suv's that never even see a dirt road!!!

I strongly believe that if a manufacuter made(none come to my mind) a kevlar wing with internal bladder its quality would shine through and bring customers. It would be an expensive wing but it would have the reputation of being the best, which would make the manufactuer look good.

ex. Ferrari sells about 120 cars in the us a year and ford sells about 200,000. Who has the better reputation? yes, ford probably makes more money a year but only because their cars are more affordable to the average joe.

pdoege, no hard feelings.

p.s Having a manufacturer replying to these boards really does say something about their company and gives is a personal touch that many dont have.

Patrick once bubbled...

We have also been working on a soft pac, called the "O Pac". A sample was sent to Chris at COVCI for his DEMO day that was held in Ohio on Saturday. I'm sure you'll hear some comments on the "O Pac " soon. It was designed for single tank use and has side mount capabilities. It is a very compact, very comfortable, no nonsence system.

Well, I got to see what Chris had at gilboa, and it was pretty nice. It seemed like a great wing for those who live somewhere other than cold water and want to move to a BP/W set-up. Very light weight, and very comfortable to have on without my wetsuit.

With all these apolgizes and thanks i feel that takes more of a man to say sorry or apolgize , then bashing somone, thanks guys for the apolgizes with each other and taking the time to reply, after all, we may meet one day underwater and be dive buddies!!! Hehehee.........
