I recently lost a Mares Quattro when the strap broke and the fin disappeared in near zero visibility. I'm now down to my last pair of fins---black rubber, Jet Fin look-alikes made by Oceanic. I bought them in 1986 when I learned to dive. I've used them on and off over the years and the're holding up just fine.

The question: Has there been any improvement in the basic Jet Fin design or construction since the 80's? In other words, is there any reason for me to leave the look-alike Oceanics in the closet and buy a new pair of Jet Fins?

Thanks to all.

No, there have been no improvements to fins since the '80's. (Yes, that is my opinion, not an established fact) Yes, there is a reason to buy Jets and leave the Oceanics in the closet. The Jet fin look alikes may look the same, but they are not the same. Jet's are far superior to the copies.
