So, yes, that's an LP72 with a galvanized finish and an older Sherwood K valve. It has the standard 3/4" neck thread.
It's possible that there's an internal coating, which may have to be removed by tumbling or shot blasting to facilitate a VIP and to preclude chunks of the coating falling off and clogging the valve or first stage. Not a big deal as long as you use a shop that knows how to do it. The valve should be serviced if you're going to use it.
It is difficult to find hydro shops that will stamp a + rating on an LP72 even if the tank passes, because documentation of the REE value is unclear. None of my local hydro facilities will do it, although people in other areas have shops that will. Without a + rating the fill capacity is reduced to 65 cf, unless you can find a fill station willing to fill it to a higher pressure than is officially sanctioned.
Even so, these cylinders are neutrally buoyant when empty and useful for a variety of purposes. I have 3 of them.
