Hey Roxanne-thank so much for updating the list and being the welcoming committee. You rox! :D

Hi,

I dive only for one year. How difficult is Ginnie Springs? Doe it require cavern certification?
what is the deal with the Mega dive for 3 days?

Thanks for any information

Rodolfo
In the rum fueled exuberance your question appears to have been missed/ignored. Personally I go there to dive, not drink, and a lot of that is simply that I don't really feel one goes with the other, before during or after. But I'm probably in the Megadive minority. But to be fair I have also not seen any serious drunkeness during the couple I have attended in the past either and it is pretty much a PG rated family event despite all the rum references.

Ginnie Springs offers open water diving as well as diving that requires cavern or cave certs. The Ginnie Ballroom is considered to be an open water dive and no cert is required and depsite that point being argued here from time to time, I can't recall the last time an OW diver actually died there and thousands dive it every year. OW divers can also dive in the run from the river, past the Devils's Ear and Devil's Ear to Little Devil and can more or less poke their heads into those areas under the restriction of a "no lights" rule that is applied to non-cavern/cave certed divers. You can also do drift dives in the river and outside of times when flooding and tannic intrusion is an issue, the visibility is very good.

In general the water coming out of the system is bottled water pure with superb visibility.

I actually did post on this, but not as well. Great review DA! I will also be bringing extra tents for anybody who needs one.

The UCF club will be coming. We've got a dive on the 16th, so we're just starting to get a plan together.

Does anyone know if Ginnie will be giving us the Full Cave rate for all SB divers?
