OK so whats the best beach viz in FL

Ok so your poor and your jerk of a friend wont let you barrow the boat.

What spot in FL do you think offers the best overall beach/shore diving.

Ft. Lauderdale?

West Palm?

i'm thinking the keys- to my beleif- maybe wrong- the reefs are shallower, but i don't know how far off of the beach they are. good luck

Lauderdale By The Sea gets my vote for the best viz, easiest entry, and most fun consistently.

Hehe Joe got our first two cert dives at Lauderdale by the Sea. I agree it kicks but for a shore dive.

There is no beach diving in the Keys.

Lauderdale By The Sea is an excellent choice for beach diving - unless you want to find fossils.

The most consistent shore dives are in the Lauderdale area as mentioned, always decent viz. IMO the best shore dives are in the Vero Beach to Ft. Pierce area, but the viz is very incosistent with days of bad viz way more frequent that days with good viz. If you find the right wind (west) and the right tide (incomming) happening at the same time, then by all means take advantage of it. You will see tons of tropical fish, turtles are plentyful and there are ancient wrecks to find.

After diving MANY, MANY different spots off the beaches from Hollywood to Lauderdale By The Sea, I would say Lauderdale By The Sea is easily the WORST spot for beach diving.

I would visit Dania, John Lloyd, or Hollywood for some good beach diving. North Fort Lauderdale isn't terrible, but it's a good swim out, and the good spots of the reef are quite scattered, if you can't do 1:30 underwater, don't waste your time with it.
