Dive-aholic:
I agree, I've freedove in 3mm with no weights, but in the movie she just sinks, no effort whatsoever...not likely to happen.
But would you have wanted to wait through all the footage necessary for her to slowly die from hypothermia? Oh, no, I think they did you a favor. The screenwriter took a little liberty and euthanisized her for your benefit. And yet you still complain...........<giggle, SNORT>

Actually i believe they had a shark come up and grab her leg with one quick pull and no fighting from her - that's how she got down so easily

He should have taken that liberty sooner...

THAT MOVIE WAS THE WORST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY WHOLE ENTIRE LIFE AND I ONLY WATCHED THE WHOLE THING BECAUSE I WAS AT SOMEONE ELSE'S HOUSE AND DIDNT WANT TO BE RUDE....IF UVE NEVER SEEN THE MOVIE BEFORE, DONT WATCH IT ...EVER UNLESS ITS FOR A STUNT ON FEAR FACTOR!also, the acting was TERRIBLE...i couldve done a better job and i basically failed elementary school drama.

Diveaholic......I got the impression that she committed suicide...no shark involved.

I guess I am just too judgemental. These wimps were in the water what...12 hours at the most and they were falling apart long before that??? Give me a break. I have taken survival courses in the military where they REALLY beat the crap out of you....hook you up to wires and shock the crap out of you.....and do other things you would not think legal. And I never knew but one guy who cracked....and I dont hold that against him because he endured it for much longer than 12 hours....but just to be in the water for a few hours and all go to pot is just not gonna fly with me.

I really felt it was a good idea neither made it because lets get some weak genes out of the gene pool.....what else can i say.

wow Rich, you must be one of these big macho NC men I'm now surrounded by!!!

Well, after 60 posts of people grumbling- I actually quite liked the film. Mainly beacuse I got to watch people setting up onthe boat and heading out diving- and I am such a geek that that kind of stuff makes me go all goosebumpley and reminds me of dive trips, and secondly cos I could spout off to all around me about how the divers should have been carrying this and that piece of equipemnt and what they should have done in the situation.

the acting wasn't that bad- I mean, not Matt Damon bad, and the script wasn't to bad either. Considering these guys filmed this on DV on a low budget, it wasn't as terrible as most of the multi-billion dollar trash that comes out of hollywood.

Now if you want to see a really good movie, check out a Japanese movie called "suicide club" , no diving, but totally MAD.

munkispank....first of all.....i just love your handle...what a riot....

next....I am from NC...but I am no macho man....and I spent 20 years in the military and went through some ungodly training.....all that said.....I just thought it was a ridiculous movie. If you liked it.....I am the first to stand up and support your right to like it....no matter how I personally feel about it.

If someone is so weak as to fall totally apart in less than 12 hours....then they are no loss to the gene pool.

If you would pls.........there is an NC Singles meeting on 25 Feb....at the Player's Retreat at 105 Oberlin Dr. starting at 6 pm... in Raleigh NC.....right off.....Hillsboro St. across from the Holiday Inn....

come visit us...and I would love to continue this converstation there....we had 21 singles show up at our first meeting......and would love for you to join us on our second meeting....

Hey there Rich,
I am trying desperately to make it to some of the NC wreck divers meets, and anything else locallly, But I am (much like the chick in the movie) too weak to deal with all this NC cold weather  The six years living in Florida weakened my resistance to the cold an I think I am in hibernation mode.

but seriously- I will try to make it to the 25th meet in Raleigh, I don't know the area that well, apart from the airport, but I will keep an eye on the boards.

I agree. I think someone else mentioned sharks, but I think she just gave up...finally!

I don't think you're being too judgemental. They gave up at the very beginning. Basically they were just waiting for the boat to show up and pick them up because the current is too strong. Give me a break! Swim across the current. You'll eventually hit land. Anyway, I guess there wouldn't be a movie if they didn't have weak genes.
