Well, I think the global warming concept is pretty accepted. There comes a point where you cannot argue against it with much credibility....
One thing that bugs me...is all the SUV knocking. I have two kids, dog, bikes, surfboards etc. You people need to buy a vowel and realize that if my kids take public transpo five days a week, we deserve to get in a gas guzzler and drive 20 minutes to a surf break, the north shore. If you are single and have a Yugo, more power to you. I guess you can tool around all day. I don't. I put about 8K a year on my guzzler, so please keep your stinkeye off me if you see me parking an X5 or an Avalanche. It is just like managing risks....I get an allowance, in my world.
I am not commuting from the burbs in a car everyday...so leave people alone with big cars unless you know the whole story. What's up with that? Trust me, I would rather be in a tiny convertible if I did not have all these bad roomates.--they are called kids, 2.0 replacement quota....or you SUV haters can drive them and their friends around. They are residents of the planet, after all, and they were not born already fully baked, knowing how to drive. They are going to replace you and I, and if I am going to do a decent job, we need to do things together in order for me to brainwash them adequately. (rant over)
Bruehlt: yes, prices will make people change. Money, the stuff you said most people put first? It forces you to choose what your priorities are. Drive around mindlessly (we did) or consolidate errands and roadtrips with others. Gas is pretty pricey in Hawaii and I see everyone making adjustments, believe me. I think it is going to be good for the environment and good for families.
