DEEPSEAWOLF:
"Columbian River Otter Manifesto for Rodentiary Safety and Preservation of Civil Rights"

ah, dude... otters are not rodents (though it's always good to be respectful
of otters). otters are members of the order carnivora

(whereas rodents are in the order rodentia)

btw, otters are in the same family as the wolverine, so i would suggest
not pissing any otters off any time soon

"Say, uncle Wolvie... i gots this wise guy here making fun of the family... maybe
you should come down and remonstrate to him a little"

followed by six months in the hospital, intensive physical therapy, and lots of
jokes about all the wires in your jaw...

forggeddabout it

Did I mention examination by trained & accredited pshyciatrists?

And please note that there is considerable emprical evidence suggesting that the variation in gradual speed increase of the African Swallow versus the Northern European Swallow is consistently less than 3%, and therefore, you could not possibly be any further north than a line extending from Crystal River to the west and Melbourne to the east at the end time mentioned, considering a start time of 12 P.M.

As for the Rodent rights manifesto, the marmot union sponsored the manifesto and included rodentiary rights as an addendum, attached to the manifesto, thereby granting rodentiary as well as carnivora rights to safety.

With a start time of noon? I'm sorry, my calculations were starting at 10:53 a.m!
If I didn't get started prior to noon, there's no way that I could manage an expedient arrival by either the African, nor the Northern European Swallow. NO more than they could transport a coconut in that time frame. Huskless coconut or not!
Then again, I was also using Fitipaldi's Theorum for Swallow Wingbeat Calculations.
I believe Journal Birdscience has actually denounced his theories as pretentious at best.
Even if he is still highly regarded in some circles as an expert on aviary transportation through hyperspace differentials. Plus,... he wears a cool hat!

While we're on the subject (not), can someone clue me in as to the guidelines of camping at Ginnie? I will only be staying over the one night, but do I need to do anything special to camp? Extra cost above the $28!!!! dollars to get in? Do we have to pay for a spot? Are there showers with hot water? I'm used to fairly primitve camping so this is new for me.

Camp fees are 16$ per person per night in addition to diving costs for each day you plan to dive. We have enough room in the two sites for plenty o' tents. We are near hot showers, and the toilets. This can be considered semi-primitive camping.

Ok, thanks. Now all I need is a new tent!

Ozark Trails are like $40 at WalMart. They are cheap, easy to set up, and decent for this climate. I've been using one for about 4 years, kinda heavily. Its getting a bit rough for wear, but who cares when you only paid $40 for it.

I took Friday off, there's a good chance I might not be showing up as late as last year(11PM Fri night). Hopefully, I'll be showing up early that evening. :)

Is anyone coming to this buddyless? I haven't been in the water in many years and won't have a buddy down there. I could use a "helping hand" so to speak to get acclimated to the water again, but don't really want to burden anyone.

SuprBugmAn, what time are you leaving? I assume you're going to be taking I10 over, so you'll pass within a mile of my house. Maybe we could follow each other over depending on your timetable.

Unless you're downstream from scubafool after the chili cookoff! Then HE is buddyless.

We usually get together as grups all weekend long. The key is, make sure you have gear ready to roll and filled tanks at all times! At any given time, somebody may say, "Who wants to hit the water?" That's youcue to yell, "ME!" Grab your gear and go! There is usually a large group afternoon dive on Saturday, and at least two evening, or an evening and a night dive on Saturday. The average diver gets in at least three dives per weekend, most of them on Saturday. As for help getting in, and acclimating, I'm SURE that SOMEONE would be MORE than willing to HELP you in that area.

Definately taking I10. Wouldn't mind a caravan, nor a garaunteed buddy for this event. I tend to do alot of diving when I have to pay for it :) Last year, I brought someone to attend to all my dive buddy needs, but I couldn't get anyone to free up there schedule this year. Ask anyone who was at last years Halloween Megadive and they'll tell you my buddy and I were MIA for the most part diving Ginnie, Blue Grotto, and Devils Den. We always made it back for the food though! :D Don't mind helping newer divers in the least.

I'm off all Friday, originally planned on leaving after work, but thats no longer an issue. I can leave whenever, as long as its within reason. Give me a call at 251-978-4089 and we can work out details.
