Oceanic Swivel Octo Question

Below H2O once bubbled...
Okay, now I really have a problem. This octo is fine when left alone. However, when put in a "scumball" type octo holder or the preformed octo holder, the Oceanic Swivel 180 will start to freeflow. It isn't a full blown freeflow, just a continuous stream of bubbles. Is there a fix for this or do I need to return it to Oceanic?

Punch a hole in the top. What is actually happening is you are allowing air to be trapped inside the second stage. When you hit the water the diaphram senses the pressure difference and adjusts like it is supposed to. What it is really doing is purging. The hole in the top allows the air to escape and water to enter, equalizing the second stage.
