I don't know what your "package deal" is, but fwiw, I use a veo 180 bungied on my wrist. I use it in computer mode on shallow dives and gauge mode for the deep stuff with no problems. Actually, it did crap out on me (not while diving though) and Oceanic sent me a new one at no charge. YMMV

I am looking at a Geo...Have heard great things about it..

What do you guys think? I am looking at a Oceanic "package deal" from my LDS.

Looking over at the Oceanic forums (here) I see alot of problem posts, especially repeat problems.

have used the VEO 180NX for about 60 dives in the last 8 months or so & it has done 'perfectly'--- don't want to scroll, explain briefly some of the 'repeat problems' please..............GEAUX TIGERS..............

I have had my proplus II for 3 years with over 300 dives on it, without problem one. I love it.

I've been using Oceanic computers from day one. I've never had a problem. Currently I have a VT Pro with transmitter, a VEO 250 Navcon and am buying a VT 3 today to upgrade my wife from the VEO 250.

Do not worry about the "death" of the computers. I've never had it happen, I've never seen it happen, and I am not aware of any widespread problems like that.

You should be very happy if you decide to go with an Oceanic Computer. If anything goes wrong, they will stand behind their products.

"death" of the computer is the most common complaint

Most of them are replaced, but many worry about the computer dying during a dive and the inconvienance in general

Thanks for the report, I think as most are saying here it's not that big of a deal.....Go for it, I'm thinking you will be happy with it.......

Got around 50 dives on my Pro Plus 2 and loving it.

I have 150 dives on my Oceanic computers, plus pool sessions, and I've had one failure.

I have a ProPlus2 (70 dives), an Atom2 (100 dives), and a Datamask. The datamask failed on the second dive, but we figured out it was defective from the factory. My LDS immediately exchanged it for a new one, and it has worked perfectly.

All computers are going to die. It's a fact of life. Take care of them, get them serviced, change the batteries.....they'll be great.

My instructor had to get his PP2 serviced this Fall. He has over 2000 dives on it and it has never had a problem. He never rinses his gear, he just throws it in the back of his truck, he doesn't bother putting the comp in a case or anything....... he's like the Samsonite gorilla of dive gear. He had his PP2 serviced because the tank pressure remaining was out of spec.
