I recently got AW Ultra2 and installed the Oceanic+ app. I have not used it yet but the interface looks intuitive enough.
I will carry a secondary dive computer but want to see if AW can be used as my primary on my trip to Fiji.

One question I have for those using AW & Oceanic+, how does compass function work? Can it be used to retrace your path back to the boat?
Does it record you path?

I tried to search but the manuals and tutorials only glance through this.
Any suggestions/help?

Thanks

It acts basically like a wet compass, shows you the direction it's pointing. It also has the ability to mark a heading (and nicely shows you the reciprocal). But it doesn't store a series of headings and nothing is augmented with any GPS data so returning to the boat purely based on the watch's data is impossible.

In any case, a series of headings would be useless unless the line segments between each heading are all the same length.

I don’t use Apple but my Suunto Eon has a digital compass too and I never figured out how to use it without the rotating bezel, lubber line, and index mark available on a typical physical compass…
