I would kill to be able to export my Geo's data to my Mac. I was told by Oceanic that the software is written for MS Access. You have to be kidding me. But either way, dump that piece of crap and use some open source database that can be ported to any OS.

Speaking of the data, can anyone tell me what is so special about their data cable that it costs $90-$100? It should be included with the device.

The cable is included in the VT3, but for the lower-cost computers, it's not...and that for cost reduction on those unit.

There is a couple of teams working on open-source dive computer libraries. If you are interested in contributing, PM me.

Understood, but most devices come with a USB cable to connect to the computer. I'm curious what is so special about Oceanic's that makes it so expensive.

My kids' Cressi did not (and was $100), nor did my wife's Vyper (and was over $100). I think it's rare to have the cable included and something Oceanic/Aeris did with their high-end computers as a bonus for forking out the bucks.

However, there is NOTHING worth that in the cable. Mostly are simplistic connectors with an FDTI chip to facilitate the USB/serial bridge to the PDC internals. About $15 worth of parts, but look at it like a car. Most cars are a few thousand $$ worth of parts yet cost several thousand $$.

There are some third-party cables and I've heard good and bad things, mostly good. Some even have DIY kits which you can build, but while my DIY are fair to decent, I'm not attaching a several hundred dollar dive computer to something *I* built. LOL...

I love my oceanic computers, and like the above users, I have been a MAC user since 2003. I am hoping for the day to come that i can download my dives into my computer......
