Right into the bag! Hah! I guess flounder aren't the smartest creatures in the sea. Maybe I'll try that next time I see a few.

Thanks for the flounder filet link - that will prove quite useful!! They also do quite well if you remove the inards and head and wrap them in Al. foil and slap 'em right on the grill. Cook for about 10 minutes or so depending on how hot your grill is. The skin will stick to the foil and I usually add a little butter and flake the meat right off the bone with a fork! Tasty!! :11ztongue

Now, flounder are not the smartest fish in the ocean, for sure, but I've never gotten one to swim into my catch bag!! You must be much more cunning then I...!

I take the same approach though, I have 12 inches taped off on my spear - make sure they are a good bit longer, then let it fly! The only thing you have to be careful of on the NS is they are usually on rock, so you can't just spear and go, you usually have to spear and hold them there until you can reach down and grab it off the spear and place into your catch bag.

I've dove with a buddy who caught a flounder via the "swim into the bag" method. The flounder escaped when he was later putting a lobster in the bag....but it only swam a short distance away. He then recaught the same flounder using the same method.....

Yea I've lost one or two that way. I try to swing the mouth of the bag while opening it to create an inward current. It helps that my bag has a mesh bottom.

They are pretty dumb fish, though. Most will let you swim right up to them, because they think they're invisible.

Yes we launched from cashman park. Its about a 10 to 15 min ride to the jetty. my boat is actually on a dock up further up river. We tried to launch at the salisbury reservation but the lot was already full at 7:45 am.

What is the mouth like on weekends nowadays with all the clueless weekend skippers ? Last time I went thru there 10 years ago it was a cross between Titicut Follies & Dr. Strange Love (or how I learned to stop worrying and love the A-Bomb).

same old song and dance. Fifty boats anchored right in the channel. who cant get upset if you have the throttle open. so i just wave back using all of my fingers unlike them and continue on my way.
