hey, NorCal forum has this question going and I thought it would be a good one for our area too. I do my own VIPs and am up to 6 personal tanks now so its rapidly becoming a cost factor. Anyone have the goods on hydro facilities that will work with individuals?

Go Here. Look up your area. Look for a facility that with an Industrial (high and low pressure cylinders) rating. Call them.

yeah that works too, but "reviews" on service (in-out time, cost, nice, not so nice etc) is a better reality check than cold calling....

In my experience, they are fire extinguisher/SCBA shops. They aren't nice, they are grumpy. They don't like to remove your valves (I do it myself, and rebuild/O2 clean the valves while the cylinders are away) so if you drop off a cylinder with a QC plug in the neck, they are way happier. I've never seen a hydro take more than a day unless it's for by 4500 or 6,000 psi banks. Then it may take 2.

Remember, you are taking them 6 cylinders every 5 years, a typical fire department in a big city (B'more, Fredneck) hydros hundreds a month. I don't expect nice when I am little more than a blister on the butt of a fire department. YMMV

Around here, I found that Brass Anchor in Frederick, MD seems to have the best prices for hydros. It's worth the hour drive (each way) from Woodbridge.

Indian Valley Scuba would be more than happy to work with you. We're a US DOT licensed cylinder requalification facility located just a few hours north of you. All work is done on-site and turn around on hydro's is usually three days or less. PM me if you are interested!

ERJO Service company in Norristown.

Hydro, O2 cleaning, tank painting, whatever - VERY reasonable and easy to work with.

I have a bunch of bank bottles there now getting O2 cleaned and 10 yr hydro'd.
