... you don't have to be DIR to behave like a GI3 wannabe ...

... Bob (Grateful Diver)

If george irvine iii were really dead to scuba, then he would not still be haunting you Bob.

Au contraire, I believe he still infests the thoughts of many, who having mistaken his tantrums for logical debate, then flatter him further with their own juvenile imitations of him.

"Prove it prove it prove it," the common cry of any non-thinking clone. The best cure for this is simply to let everyone who does not know any better simply go on diving that way, especially deco on the fly. Because this gives the local hyperbaric chambers a lot of practice. And that way the chambers will always be ready in case a smart diver needs to pay a visit, which is rare, if ever.:eyebrow:

I have met only a few true DIR practitioners...most have been older divers....some were GUE and a few not.....seems like what I do run into a lot of is divers taking tid bits of the DIR philosophy and applying it to their own needs....most of these divers have never taken a GUE class...but still 'label' themselves as full DIR divers. To each his own. My own diving style and gear configuration is a melting pot of what I consider the best of various styles and set-ups, totally usable-understandable-functional and safe.

Overall, I find it laughable how vocal the anti-DIR crowd is on this board.

I think that freqently, being critical of certain aspects of DIR is misconstrued by others as being anti-DIR. Which, in many cases may not be true. I get paid to on a daily basis look for ways to improve on my own work and that of others. Because I examin something and see it's weeknesses and subsequent areas for improvement, does not mean I don't have appreciation for it's strengths.

Indeed, even as I have listed its strengths, supra, juxtaposed beside its self-evident weaknesses.:D

George isn't dead ... he's irrelevent. I think your behavior is every bit as repulsive as his was ... and for all the same reasons.

The big difference is that George had a clue what he was criticizing ...

Now THAT's just freak'n funny ... :rofl3:

Gotta mirror handy? :shakehead:

And in the bull**** videos on the net. Chances are if you get into DIR or just want to learn about it you WILL run into it. Listen I'm sick of it. I know the DIR crowd is.

Well in fact not all the crowd is, some DIR folks are still in war...

As far as DIR or Non-DIR, i am still in between, the concept seem good but yes, the video are "disappointing".

My gear is DIR compliant and for many years I practiced S-drills with my buddies during deco stops. If a buddy asked me to be part of a team dive, I could fit right in, but I will never be DIR. I don't have anything against the system, but I truly enjoy the peace and solitude whenever I dive solo.

LOL, one in particular.......nice packaging but anyone can hire their neighbor for a few six packs of beer to shoot video of them bolting up a wing in their living room! That was kind of :mooner: IN 9......
Couldn't resist...................
