Hello,
I want to share a suggestion from a recent trip. I wanted to find a light regulator bag that would fit inside my carry on backpack so it wouldn't have to be a second carry on. It had to be something that would easily slide out that would keep my regulator organized so I wouldn't have to reorganize it after it goes the scanner. I decided to use an Eagle Creek Pack It Cube. It's a mesh bag that's just large enough for my reg, octo, and computer. I put the whole bag on the conveyor. The guard could tell it was a piece of scuba gear and notified the person watching the scanner. It worked out well both going and coming. It is not a padded bag but in the case where you're carrying it within a padded bag it works just fine.
Best,
jsl
