I finished the arms for my twin Nocturnal SL50 light setup. The whole system seems a little heavy but its is rugged.
It should work out fine but after I finish testing and the inevitable modifications, I think I may be happy with it.

I may have to add some buoyancy tubes to help with stability.
Any other suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.

Dave

Looks good. I'd guess it will be a couple of pounds negative underwater. If that is the case, you will definitely want to add some buoyancy.

Dave, although the rig will probably be fine for shooting out in the open... it will be impossible to get into all those nooks and crannies where the critters tend to live (and hide), and will probably involve more entanglement in the kelp. Also travel with the rig may be difficult. However, if it meets your needs... congrats on doing it the "American" way (with ingenuity).

Well Bill, I plan on taking it to the Dive Park in two weeks to see how it handles the kelp.
You don’t think I can zoom in to get the nudis?
I plan on taking it to Kona this June, I hope it will get some video of the Manta’s and other night creatures.

RonRosa, Thanks, I do plan on adding a little buoyancy to make it easier to manage.

How do you like SL50 so far? I'm looking at a pair myself.......Mark
PS. I like the set up looks good to me.....

Now that you have done the DIY I will tell you that Nightrider lights makes a plate that will fit the OI housing. I have one and so far so good. I did have to make my own dove tailed piece but I think Nightrider is making that as well.

So far so good. They are a bit heavy so I am planing on making a buoyancy tube that I can attach/detach if nec.

Thanks.

Making the dovetail was not hard to do but I have not decided if I should just weld the bottom plate to the dovetail and eliminate the screws.

looks nice but I wonder about what kind of looks you are gonna get when you plop that down on the boat camera table! LOL

as far as bouyancy, I saw somewhere that another diver used the "POOL NOODLES" attached to his rig. Don't know how it worked but it sure looked funky.

It never bothers me too much what it looks like to others, if it works, I'll like it!
